BACK PAIN

  • Suffering from back pain?
  • Looking for long-term, pharmaceutical-free relief?
  • Acupuncture can help.

Using hair-thin needles placed at strategic points across your body, at differing depths, the process of acupuncture is a truly painless and highly effective treatment for back and neck pain. Acupuncture provides an immediate release of tension, assists with reducing the sensation of pain, and boosts the body’s natural immune functions.

We can isolate three particular ways in which acupuncture works with your body to reduce back pain and assist in the healing of many back and neck conditions.

Release of opioid peptides

Opioids are naturally occurring chemicals in the brain that have an analgesic effect. The release of these opioids plays a significant role in the reduction of pain. It is widely understood that acupuncture stimulates the release of these chemicals into your brain, providing the desired pain-dampening effect.

Alteration in the secretion of neurotransmitters and neurohormones

Acupuncture is understood to activate the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, altering the secretion of these particular chemicals. These chemicals play a large role in our sensation of pain, as well as affecting the activity of certain organs. Documentation and evidence supports the findings that acupuncture can reduce the sensation of pain and can also enhance the body’s natural immune functions.

Stimulation of electromagnetic points on the body

We have 2,000 points on our bodies that are theorized to be strategic conductors of electromagnetic signals – the stimulation of these through acupuncture is believed to start the flow of endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers.

We are able to effectively manage pain, improve circulation, maximize your natural immunity, and promote healing through the practice of acupuncture. You will notice the difference: and you won’t suffer from any side-effects!

SPORTING INJURIES

A common complaint of many of our clients is the niggle of an old sporting injury that had never been assessed or treated. Many of these clients were simply unaware of the damage that had occurred, and with the masking effects of pharmaceutical pain relief, had simply continued in their day-to-day tasks. We also see many clients straight from the medical clinic – and in some cases directly off the sporting field! We often treat knee, elbow, shoulder and groin sprains, with results including increased mobility, reduction in pain, release of tension and stress, and the ability to sleep!

We can assist with a variety of sporting complaints, including:

  • Strains
  • Sprains
  • Neck discomfort
  • Shoulder pain
  • Elbow pain
  • Wrist pain
  • Hip discomfort
  • Knee pain
  • Ankle pain
  • Swollen muscles
  • Shin splints

While we highly recommend having your sporting injury professionally assessed in a medical clinic to ensure you are not suffering from broken bones or torn muscles, we are ideally placed to assist with your ongoing healing and pain management process. Many of our clients are seeking a pharmaceutical-free option for pain management, and many others are seeking a reliable, long-term therapy that promotes well-being and whole-body healing. We isolate your area of trauma and work with multiple goals: to heal, to manage pain, and to re-integrate that area back into harmony with your body’s natural movement.

While pain medication will allow you the short-term benefit of continued movement, the long-term damage can be catastrophic for your body – and your injury! Acupuncture serves to stimulate not only the opioids that trigger pain relief for your injury, but it will also boost your natural immunity for accelerated healing, increase your circulation to assist with increased movement and flexibility (and healing, of course), and will also help to relax your body: an important part of the healing process.

In our purpose-built acupuncture studio, we specialize in rehabilitative acupuncture for sporting injuries, providing a natural, drug-free pain relief process in a calm and welcoming atmosphere.

RELIEVING STRESS

Unfortunately, the world we live in promotes stress and devalues relaxation. For those of us who work 9-5 jobs, who struggle with deadlines, who juggle family life with corporate expectations, who work every hour possible yet still struggle to scrape by: acupuncture can help. The most difficult part of relieving stress and treating stress-related conditions is quite simply having the ability to recognize when you are becoming stressed in the first place! If you recognize any of the following symptoms, it is likely that you are on your way to (or are already experiencing) a nervous episode.

Symptoms of Stress:

  • Expect the worst
  • Worry excessively about money, health, family or work, when there are no signs of trouble
  • Be unable to relax, enjoy quiet time, or be by themselves
  • Depression
  • Mood swings
  • Avoid situations that make them anxious
  • Paranoid behaviour
  • Be irritable
  • Have constant worries running through their head
  • Have difficulty concentrating or focusing on things
  • Have difficulty breathing normally
  • Feel edgy, restless or jumpy
  • Suffer from stomach problems, nausea, diarrhea
  • Suffer from poor sleep
  • Need to know what’s going to happen in the future

Acupuncture can work in a variety of ways to reduce the effects and symptoms of stress and anxiety. In general, acupuncture is understood to stimulate the nervous system, releasing neurochemical molecules. This results in biochemical changes that in turn influence the body’s homeostatic mechanisms, promoting physical and emotional well-being. We work closely with each patient to identify the particular symptoms and related conditions that they may be experiencing, and we tailor each therapy to concentrate on the area affected. Acupuncture is a gentle, relaxing alternative to medication with success across a wide range of stress-related conditions.

FERTILITY

Depending on your situation of course, acupuncture fertility treatments alone may not be the best treatment option. Each case is unique, and we work together with you to devise a treatment plan that best reflects your situation and needs. In many cases, using acupuncture in association with IVF significantly increases your chances of IVF success leading to a healthy birth; without the side effects of any pharmaceutical intervention.

Acupuncture can also assist with pregnant women over the age of 35, who are statistically at an increased risk of birthing complications. Acupuncture has proven to increase the blood flow to the uterus, which acts as a preventative measure to reduce risks related to insufficient blood flow to the placenta. Acupuncture can also ease muscular pain and discomfort related to pregnancy.

We understand the delicate nature of fertility treatments, and we also understand the emotion that can be associated with these treatments. Our clinic is private, relaxing and peaceful, while our practitioners are extremely experienced and knowledgeable. We are able to meet with you confidentially to discuss treatment plans, and to further explain the acupuncture methods and outcomes.
